I remember my first week in the Network Marketing Industry. I was full of all kinds of different feelings. One of which is something I’ve noticed alot of others go through, who are brand new to the industry.
It’s easy to be excited when you first get started. For some it’s the idea of working toward putting that miserable job in their rear-view for good. For me it was the excitement of being able to create my own reality. Regardless of our reasons for starting, there is one common thread that ties us all together…
The fact that we somehow seem to forget ourselves when it comes to marketing out new found opportunity and products. I can laugh at it now because we all go through it.
However there is a price to be paid for putting your company’s product or opportunity in between you and the people you talk to. It’s not a natural thing. Think about it. When one of your friends gets a new job, sure they’re happy, but it’s got nothing to do with the company. They don’t run you out of the room at every party talking about their great company and compensation plan.
That would just be weird. However Network Marketers do this sort of thing all the time. I did it and it didn’t take long before I started getting the whispers whenever I would come around. That wasn’t a very good feeling.
Here I’ve just made one of the best decisions of my life by joining a Network Marketing Opportunity and nobody’s happy for me. But then I figured out why that is…
I never gave them the chance. When they wanted to be happy me, all I did was talk about the company, the company, the company. Who cares, right? It’s hard to see past when you’re brand new to the industry, but lose a few friends along the way and it becomes obvious.
This industry isn’t about losing friends and feeling alienation. It’s about growing and feeling great about what it is that you do. The company is just a company. You are the only thing that matters.
