Lead Capture Pages

When a web surfer clicks your advertisement, finds you in the search engines, or makes a direct query to your website, you’re going to want to know who that person is. Otherwise, how can you help them find what they’re looking for? How do you know you even have what they’re looking for. You might have what they’re looking for, but they might not be quite ready to buy.

Usually a person will need to see your offer a few times before they buy.  So how do you keep that message in front of them?  This can be done by using a Lead Capture  Page.

A Lead Capture Page is a web page that provides limited information about the need that your particular product or service is the solution to. Somewhere during their visit, a potential buyer may want to find out alot more about your products or services, but just isn’t ready to buy.

That’s okay though. That’s what your Lead Capture Page is for. A lead capture pae isn’t exactly intended to make sales. It’s purpose is to make the visitor feel compelled to leave their information with you. However for that to happen, you’ll need to have a few things in place there.

First, your lead capture page should start with a compelling Headline. This is a statement, question, or idea that the person can relate to. It’s intent is to get the person to read more to find out exactly what’s going on with you’re product or service.

Often times, a good headline will both qualify a prospect and suck them into your body copy like a hoover.

Your body copy is where you get to introduce your visitor to an intimate look at what your product or service does. How can they fix a certain situation with your product? How will they gain a certain pleasure?

Sometimes it’s good to tell a story so that your prospect can sit there and think to himself, “Yeah, I feel that way too and I’m sick of it!” or “Man, I wish I could get results like that…” A good story is a great way to keep somebody reading about what you are really offering.

Remember though, your intention with a lead capture page is not to sell, only to get the person to leave you their name and email address so that you can follow up with them through your email autoresponder. Which leads us to the most important part…

The Opt-In Form. This is the actual part of the page where the person gives you their info. If they are really interested in hearing more about what you’re offering, then they ‘ll definitely fill it out. However, don’t expect your prospects to think of this all by themselves.

Every good lead capture page should have a strong call to action. Sometimes people need to be told what to do. Your website visitors are no different. Let them read your story and point them to the big “Get More Info” form. In one fell swoop they’ll be automatically entered into your autoresponder’s follow-up campaign.

While the parts that make up a good lead capture page are few, the end result hinges on your ability to write strong, compelling copy. Improving your copywriting skills are a must if you wish to make it in marketing online.
